Bungie Studios have allowed TFL specialists Project Magma to ‘clean out’ Bungie’s own swag cupboard with a new tournament aimed at re-igniting TFL multiplayer gaming.
Registrations are being accepted for “Return of the Fallen Lords 2: TOTAL CARNAGE” at projectmagma.net/rotfl2/. Entries will be accepted until August 7. Games will be played on the Unity 3 plugin, as well as a brand new, very small Carnage-based 8-starter called ‘In-Carn-8’, both of which are available at the site.
Bungie regrets the unavailability of B.net1 for TFL gamers, and as a thank you to their loyal customers have provided collector’s items and a plethora of software. The overall winner of the tournament will receive a collector’s item Press-Kit Boxed Set: a pine-wood gift box branded with Myth and Bungie logos and containing a set of Myth Christmas cards, a green XL Thrall T-Shirt and a Myth soundtrack CD, and a collector’s item Poster-Sized Myth 2 Ad Print.
In addition, all round and clan winners will receive the prestigious “Grounds for Assault 2” CD-ROM from TFL order The Underdogs, a compilation of almost every working publicly-released third party plugin for TFL. A large selection of Bungieware is also available to second place, third place and round winners.
Game co-ordination will be notified and maintained through the web-based “BattleWatch” game lister at bw.projectmagma.net .
After 2 months as a simple listing service, Project Magma has fleshed out their web-based BattleWatch game finder to incorporate news, a forum and real-time chat.
After months of investigating existing real-time chat options, an IRC-based Java applet was selected that provided greatest compatibility and functionality. IRC users are also able to use dedicated clients to get into the #BattleWatch channel via the IRC server irc.accessirc.net. Instructions are available at the BattleWatch site.
“Return of the Fallen Lords 2: TOTAL CARNAGE” is open to all players with a registered copy of TFL. Project Magma and Bungie Studios would like to extend a very warm welcome to players past and present, and look forward to spreading your entrails all over the crater.
Erk - Sorry about the repeat post... However...
...It's with some interest that, of the 130-odd sign-ups to-date, not one of them carries a ClanPlaid designation.
I realise that possibly ClanPlaid spends most of its time on M2 these days, fighting the good fight at MWC perhaps... But if any CP representatives would like to spend a little time reliving the bad ol' days of TFL, you would be most welcome. I think you'll find the games competitive, the company good and the entry fee is very reasonable.
I hope some of you can find the time to have a few laughs with us!
