from.Lipton Brisk is owned by Unilever (!) and is in partnership with
Pepsi to distribute their products. I'm not a big fan of it, I
think it tastes too artificial -- that acid they add really
claws at the throat. But, I don't mind the flavoured varieties. So, I don't know if Austrilia would get the goods from Canadia

you're just mad cause your Canadian Mountain Dew has NO caffeine! The horror! That's like Myth without Blood! Egads!

Yeah, in Canada, it is illegal to add caffeine to non-cola products, unless the caffeine occurs in a "natural" ingredient. Hence the new "energy" drinks with added guaraná.
I saw a program about caffeine in soft drinks, how it "hooks" young people, and how there is a surge of soft drinks which spike greatly the amount of caffeine. I wonder how many cases of ADHD would be solved by cutting out a high-sugar, high-caffeine diet rather than resorting to ritalin?
Last I heard, Pepsi asked the government to allow them to add caffeine, and the issue is still under review. There's also the issue of requiring to label caffeine content. Some energy drinks can become dangerous to your health if consumed in quantity. and caffeine is especially dangerous to children.
In my opinion, it's a no-brainer. Nutritional information is labeled, but the amount of a potentially dangerous drug is not?
Let the immortal thread live on!
I wouldn't say rulz, but it's far from nasty
The lemon flavour is rather subtle, but makes the drink oddly more interesting. Though, I must say, the artificial sweetener remains at least equally as noticeable as the lemon flavour. That's the major reason I've never drunk terribly much Diet Coke. The artificial sweetener hides the cola too much. :(

Looking back over this thread
I'd say, at a guess, it holds the record for a thread with the most views of replies which are clearly labeled as no text. Nate's <A HREF=http://www.clanplaid.net/forums/general/index.cgi?read=976">Diet Coke with Lemon______Rulz [nt] having (at the time of writing) 417 views with only 5 direct replies, one of which, Ratbert's Pepsi Twist: The only way to make Pepsi drinkable... [nt], having 601 views with only 2 direct replies.
While I find these numbers interesting, I find that I felt it necessary to post about it more interesting/disturbing. ;)

Thanks to Diet Coke with....Lime.
Who's tasted it? What do you think?
Yay!

Whoo!
Thanks to Diet Coke with....Lime.

I find it just a wee bit foul. It tastes okay going down, but the aftertastes of the diet coke and lime don't really jive well.
Re: Lemon Coke tastes like ass - Pepsi lemon is better.
All you little fuckers that say pepsi is beter than coke should let your balls drop and grow a little hair on them. pepsi is for all the gay fuckers who can go near a girl without getting wood so if you have a problem then tell your mom cause i am sure you still live with her
That's the adjective!

Skunky! That's the proper word.
It tastes kind of skunky! Just like beer from an old keg going through taps that haven't been cleaned in a little too long. That's what the aftertastes jive to make--a similar sort of flavor modification, although with a dramatically different starting flavor point, as skunky beer.

I believe this Guy.....
...cause of all the posters on this thread, this guy seems the most likely to have actually tasted ass.

Interestingly, lime or lemon are used to hide skunky tastes.
Skunky taste in beer is often caused by a reaction to light. This is why most beer is bottled in dark glass bottles. Corona, as a counter-example, is bottled in a clear glass bottle. If it is exposed to too much light during shipment, it can get skunky. Hence, marketers have picked up on the practice of adding lime to Corona. It's not just a kitschy thing to do, it's a practical thing to do -- the lime hides the skunky flavour developed due to exposure to light.
So I'm wondering if your description of the flavour is somehow connected with the flavour of Corona that you may have sampled in the past?

Don't drink the carbonated poison...it will damage your ability to think...obviously. I just drank some and I feel stupid.

While v thirsty and in the immediate vicinity of ridiculous cautious relatives re. tap water distributed pandemics, I took a stroll around a Parisian supermarket for something worth paying for, and happened upon a shelf or five of Snapple. Remembering this thread and my inability to buy it in Australia, I snapped a bottle up.
Can't say I was amazed by it, and won't immediately call it 'chuggable', but it was quite refreshing although sported a slight bitter twinge. I'm still searching for my Coke® replacement...

PS: Looking for the relevant section of this thread made me so glad for WebBBS's search feature. I'm so proud to be a part of this monstrosity of discussion,
ok, what about Vault ?
tried some Vault Zero (diet version) ... I kinda liked it, was much better than diet Mt Dew anyway...
It's a decent taste...
The concentration of caffiene from two back to back gave me the twitches like coffee though, which MDX (aka Lime Battery Acid) didn't. Still, for taste, I'd rate it better than any other sugar fee soda I've had with caffiene.

oooh, looks like the soft drink thread is BACK!
And now that I can subscribe to this thread, I'll never worry about missing another scintillating post here EVUH AGAIN.
so, sometime last year I stopped guzzling caffeine... switching from diet pepsi to diet sprite (and some other non-caffeinated diet soft drinks). I have caffeine on occasion, but not very often. This morning I was out of diet sprite in the fridge, so I drank a diet pepsi. EEEEEWWWWW! how did I use to drink this, it's freakin nasty.
so, now I'll have to say it... diet colas suck - all of them!!!
All of them indeed! I mean really, if you're worried about sugar or whatever, why drink _any_ soft drink? I'll bet if you looked at the ingredients close enough there'd be something that concerned you.
The rancid taste of diet soft drinks concerns me enough not to drink any of them.
100% sugar all the way!
(I don't mind Coke Zero, but let's ignore that for now :) )
I drink Vault zero, but definitely not for the taste. It's got an oversweet lemon-ish thing going in the taste department, and it only beats Diet Mt Dew because DMD gives me acid. That other sugar free Mt Dew product, MDX, is a lot like lime battery acid. I've never been able to drink sugar free sodas, but C2 is a reasonable compromise I think; unfortunately it's a compromise on other fronts too and I don't really see it hanging around long with such a small market space.
Jones has a sugar free black cherry soda that's got a good taste, IMHO, but it's extremely fizzy and the taste, while good, doesn't go with any food. Plus, no caffeine.

i get diet pepsi for free.. so i drink it. i tried diet pepsi jazz...strawberries and cream..last week... its pretty good.. but not "free"

Have you folks tried/seen Coca-Cola Blak? It's exactly like coke mixed with coffee. Not anything I'm searching for, but thought it was interesting.

Someone brought a 6 pack of the Blak to ECG. One got opened and lightly tasted, another one sat upstairs on the wizwar table all weekend with everyone passing it around trying to get the other to drink it. The other 4 are probably still cluttering up Eph's porch.
Take from that what you will about the taste. ;)
To repeat what my wife said when she tried it, it tastes a little bit like coke, a little bit like coffee, and a lot like ass.

::resists opportunity to make the obvious joke::
My g/f had some, she seemed to think it was ok, but she hasn't bought any since - so she must not have thought it was 'good' either.
She did by some Tab energy drink, and then bought more - so that must be all right. I didn't try it - but it's not cola flavored (Tab was the diet coke before their was diet coke long long ago).
whatever, i like vanilla coke.
what sucks is DIET COKE.
eww. i hate that headache inducing shit.
Diet Hansen's gets a thumbs up from me, root beer, black cherry, tangerine lime - all good. Sodium free too.
Lately I've been drinking water and eating caffeine mints to get my fix. Easier on the teeth that way. I still drink a fair amount of tea too, but it doesn't contribute much to my alertness. ;)
This thread has officially gone over the 6-year-old mark. Huzzah!

think of it this way, as your Son gets older, you can see this thread get older along with him (:
How's it going there? Things getting back to 'normal'?
Conner:
Somehow a thread on the pros and cons of various flavored soft drinks (the True Name of non-alcoholic fizzy beverages) doesn't seem very appealing as a parallel to my son growing up. Go fig...
Things are slowly getting back to normal. We took a "tour" of Time Check, Czech Village, Downtown, and the Taylor Elementary neighborhood (Ladybert works there) this evening, and the amount of refuse piled outside of the houses is really depressing. But we're out from under the draconian water conservancy orders (I'm glad I helped save the one remaining well, and using water for drinking only for a few days beats a boil order in my book), and showers are once again a daily occurance.
I'm still looking for a job, and I am worried how the recovery will impact my search. I may have to seriously entertain short-term contract gigs in Chicago and other nearby areas...
