I just saw a neat little infobit on cnbc about some new sort of broadband that two guys are developing that may be "the new thing"
Whatever, I just want to know some of you technophiles' opinions on whether it seems viable and/or truly better than current tech that is in place.

In the tv clip the reporter said some people gave up their t1 lines for this thing because "it was more reliable" Well no specifics of latency or packet loss vs. 56k lines were given.
Also their site is very lacking in the numbers department, it seems more like "hey look at what we have! it's the next big thing! whoohooo" and it may very well be but there's no comparison numbers that I can find.

    Ugh. help.

I'd imagine there are no numbers because they haven't finished their field testing.

They're currently conducting small live-testing in CA because they were having trouble getting the big boys interested and decided to fund it as a 'proof-of-concept' field test kind of thing. Just a bit of info.

It's a neat idea, that's for sure. That's about the extent of my opinion on it.

There's also been talk (since muted) about using electric powerlines as the next great 'broadband agent' and it did look promising, but I haven't heard anything in the last year or so. Apparently it's being successfully deployed in Europe.

My usual zen stance: "The future looks really interesting!"
